Part of the fun of any county fair is enjoying the incredible variety of tasty foods. Fairgoers yearning for yummy county fair food – but still wanting to make healthier choices – are finding the Marin County Fair is the place for them!

Continuing their award-winning collaboration, the Marin County Fair, the Prevention Pavilion, Play Fair and the fair’s food vendors are working together to offer and promote healthy food choices at the Fair. Vendors have been provided guidelines, awards and cash prizes to help them promote and include colorful fruits, vegetables, whole grains and foods with less fat and sugar in their menus.

At the 2008 Fair all all thirty of the Fair’s food vendors will be offering healthy menu options, including items made with colorful fruits, vegetables, whole grains, which use less fat and sugar - and are served in biodegradable food containers. Fairgoers will be able to identify healthy food choices by the colorful signage posted in front of each vendor’s stand. Making it easier to find the vendors once at the fair, fairgoers will also receive maps of the fairgrounds leading the way to tasty and healthy fair fare.

Once again, the Marin County Fair continues as a model to fairs across the state and nation for its great efforts and successes in creating a fair where visitors can have fun while making healthy choices!
